Observations/Thoughts:
As per the previous post, this advert induces the mysterious feel since the details of the animals could not be seen. It was beautifully captured and I personally like the spray paint colour. Although it is not obvious here, the blue has a tinge of metallic as well as sparkling personality to it. This will go well with the target audience of the restaurant, which is kids. The first image from the process images is the original image that was produced after spray painting. I personally think that it was not well done due to the flimsy quality of the stencil I have of the animals. The second image shows an overlay of a cartoonish image of the borzoi on the spray. However, I felt that by placing the sketched overlay cartoonish borzoi does not add to the mysterious feel. The cartoon borzoi is also not aesthetically pleasing. I had tried to recreate the same type of cartoon animals from the Rainforest Cafe (which can be seen in the branding research post) but it does not fit in it this particular advert. Hence, scraped.
I really liked how the image turned out. I felt that the bleed from the spray looks even better (image 3), although my scanner did not do the artwork justice. The artwork that was produced originally was not sprayed properly. It does not look refined and this is probably due to the fact that I did not spray it properly and the stencil was not big enough to cover the entire image. I cleaned the image with photoshop afterwards to make it look better as an advert that can be covered in a magazine.
What I dislike about this advert is the fact that the logo does not really fit into the advert. The logo has lots of colours and is pretty vibrant but the artwork is monochrome. The contrast is disconcerting.
